 RADIOLOGY RESIDENCY PROGRAM

 

  • Daily clinical responsibilities and educational activities across 5 major metropolitan hospitals (Toronto General, St Michael’s Hospital, Sunnybrook Hospital, Toronto Western, SickKids.)

  • After hours call coverage across 5 tertiary care urban hospitals.

  • Residency Program Committee (RPC) Member - 2013-2014.

  • Redesigned, transitioned, and maintained the residency programs website www.radlink.ca as a tool for communication of program information and centerilization of educational resources for residents.

  • Work closely with chief residents over the years in setting up more streamlined communication methods, mailing lists, online forms, and scheduling softwares and systems.

  • Engage in research projects:

    • Neuroradiology project with Dr. Sarma at St Michael's Hospital.

    • Neuroradiology project with Dr. Meralani at Sunnybrook Hospital.

    • Abdominal Imaging project with Dr. Jhaveri at Princess Margaret Hospital.

  • Created an Evaluations App alongside our current and previous program directors Dr. Probyn and Dr. Bartlett used for rotation evaluations.

  • Attended numerous radiology courses organized by the department (See section below)

  • Presented at a number of conferences and at program half day rounds (See section below)

 MEDICAL STUDENT and RADIOLOGY PROJECTS

 

  • Served on the Technology Enabled Learning Group (TEL) as part of MedIT.

  • Served on the Curriculum Renewal Committee alongside UBC faculty.

  • Presented a number of educational posters at the RSNA and ASER conferences.

  • Won “Award of Merit” for two exhibits presented at the RSNA.

  • Organized the Radiology Interest Group (Club) and held speaker series to promote awareness of radiology as a career choice amongst the student body.

  • Helped develop a 50 page module on cardiac radiology for the undergraduate curriculum.

  • Developed several educational websites.

  • Assisted with funding applications for the Teaching and Learning Innovation Funds (TLEF).

 MOLECULAR GENETICS RESEARCH ASSISTANT

Manipulating genetic recombination machinery of "Toxoplasma gondii" for improved gene targeting used in pharmaceutical research. Completed an undergraduate Honors Thesis and an Oral Defense.

 

XENON PHARMACEUTICALS INC.  Vancouver, BC     2005 - 2006

 TARGET VALIDATION & ASSAY DEVELOPMENT RESEARCH ASSISTANT

  • Used site directed mutagenesis to clone, express, and observe electrophysiological properties of a genetic mutation involved in epilepsy.

  • Performed high-throughput screening assays for new compound discovery.

AGRICULTURE CANADA RESEARCH CENTER  Agassiz, BC 2005

 MICROBIOLOGY LABORATORY RESEARCH ASSISTANT

           Investigated the effect of several growth promoters and antibiotics used in the cattle industry using microbiological techniques to reduce shedding of pathogenic E. coli O157:H7.

CANADIAN ASSOCIATION OF INTERNS AND RESIDENTS (CAIR)    2013

 MEMBERSHIP OUTREACH COMMITTEE MEMBER (MOC)

  • Worked on developing a digital strategy for the CAIR website and developed designs and templates in order to create greater engagement of organizations’ resident members.  

  • Worked on ways to increase effective social media engagement as part of the outreach committee.

 

CANADIAN FEDERATION OF MEDICAL STUDENTS  (CFMS) 2011- 2012    

 NATIONAL OFFICER OF INFORMATICS AND TECHNOLOGY  

  • Developed the website and the electronic infrastructure for managing the information of the organization with a web traffic of >2000 visits each week to the site. (www.cfms.org)

  • Setup systems for daily communication of the council members and greater organization.

  • Provided assistance on a number of different ongoing initiatives at a national level.

  • Advocated and presented on more “meaningful use of technology in education” at the annual meetings.

 

UBC MEDICAL UNDERGRADUATE SOCIETY (MUS)           2009 - 2012

 INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (IT) OFFICER

  • Developed the UBC Online Medical Student Community used by the majority of medical students at UBC to access and contribute academic and social resources.

  • Advocated to faculty for better use of educational technologies in medical education. An initiative that ultimately led to implementation of lecture recording at UBC and revamping of the online educational portal.

 CO-FOUNDING EDITOR

  • Along with a group of classmates, started the bi-annual publication UBCMJ.

  • Involved in the creative process throughout the production cycle and helped the launch of the journal. Designed the layout, graphics, and inaugural cover page for the publication.

  • Photographed a number of athletics, social, and official UBC events.

  • Published tens of photos in the UBC’s biggest student newspaper and contributed to a multitude of prints and web articles.

  • Involved in a two-week project with the aim of raising awareness about HIV/AIDS in communities around the province of Goa in India. Gave presentations at schools.

  • Performed training in searching for downed aircrafts, lost individuals, and distressed boats in as part of a group that collaborated with the Canadian Military and the Coast Guard.

  SWIMMING TEAM CAPTAIN AND ASSISTANT COACH

  • Responsibly helped train and supervised a team of 30 students during practice three mornings a week and accompanied the team to competitions.
